7 Best Stay-at-Home Mom Jobs that Pay Well in 2024 (I love #7)

Being a stay-at-home mom is already a full-time job, so how can you find something that works around your schedule and pays well? This was a question I asked myself when I was four months pregnant with my second child and ready to quit my job.

 I didn't care about climbing the corporate ladder anymore; I just wanted to be at home with my kids. However, my husband and I were living in a two-income household, so I couldn't just quit my job without figuring out how to supplement my income.

After a lot of online searching, I felt guided to reach out to other moms who work from home to learn what they do, how they manage it with kids, how to get started, and most importantly, how much money they make. 

I asked, and they answered, leading me to create a website sharing their stories for moms like me looking for legitimate stay-at-home mom jobs. That was four years ago, and I’ve since built a business from scratch. 

I launched my website in January 2018, had my daughter in March 2018, and took an extended maternity leave to see if this business venture could work. It did, and by the time my leave was over, I was ready to go all in, even though I had only made $5,000 in my first year in business.

But then the very next year, I made over $200,000. That was nothing short of miraculous. My husband and I had decided early on that the goal was for me to quit my job, so we started living off one paycheck and saved all my earnings as a safety net.

Here are some of the best stay-at-home mom jobs that I recommend, along with a disclaimer: for some of these, I highly recommend taking a course. 

While some might worry about the cost, consider it an investment in learning valuable skills. Just as people pay for college to secure a job, investing in courses can help you gain the knowledge needed to offer services that businesses are willing to pay for.

Becoming a Virtual Assistant

This was the first job I took on to start making money online, and I loved it. Virtual assistants provide administrative support remotely, handling tasks like scheduling appointments, managing emails, handling social media accounts, and conducting research. 

It's a flexible job that lets you work around your own schedule, typically paying around $20 to $25 per hour. My first job paid $25 an hour, and I believe you can achieve similar success.

Working for Telus

Telus offers a role as a U.S. Rater, where you work 20 hours a week at $14 an hour, analyzing data from search engines and rating search terms for relevancy. It’s a flexible option if you need money and want to work on your terms.

Becoming a Bookkeeper

This is one of my favorite stay-at-home mom jobs. Bookkeepers maintain and record the financial transactions of a business, typically working just a few hours a month per client.

 This job offers great flexibility and potential earnings. For instance, a mom of nine kids I interviewed makes over $2,000 a month as a bookkeeper. A free workshop can help you decide if this is the right path for you.

Proofreading

If you have a keen eye for detail and are always spotting spelling or grammar errors, proofreading could be a lucrative side gig. I interviewed a mom who makes $3,500 a month doing this. 

She took a course to refine her skills and gain confidence, which I recommend if you're interested in this field.

Sleep Consulting

If you've been able to get your kids to sleep through the night early on, you might have a knack for sleep consulting. For instance, Jamie Havens turned her ability to help kids sleep into a business, now making $10,000 a month. She also teaches other moms how to do the same.

Selling Printables on Etsy

Printables are a great way to make passive income. You create them once and sell them repeatedly. For example, Julie, whom I interviewed, makes thousands of dollars selling printables on Etsy. 

Starting with tools like Canva, you can create and list your products, using keywords to help potential buyers find them.

Blogging 

Finally, blogging is what I do. You can make a significant income if done correctly. I find out what questions people are searching for on Google and answer them through my blog articles. This approach consistently drives traffic to my website, allowing me to earn through ads and affiliate marketing.
